Campus & Community Projects

City of Portland, Maine

The City of Portland, Maine made several attempts to launch a bike share system in the city over an 8-year span, but was not successful in getting the program off the ground. In 2021, the City released an RFP, and SustainMobility advised the operator who was selected to operate and manage the system, Tandem Mobility. SustainMobility worked with the City’s planning and public works departments to identify bike share hub locations, and convened with stakeholders and potential funders to launch the system. Portland Bikeshare finally launched in August 2022 with the first phase, and SustainMobility worked with the City and bike share operator to expand the system and sustain its operation.
