In a presentation given in October 2022, David showcased how the explosive growth of e-bikes and demand for micromobility as a whole has led to creative business models, financing options, and government incentives to increase adoption. David provided a unique global, regional, and local perspective on the opportunities and challenges that the e-bike and micromobility industry as a whole face now and in the future, and why some governments are prioritizing e-bikes as a way to fight climate change.
SustainMobility supported Three Stones International as a sustainable mobility subject matter expert in their independent research study on the socioeconomic impacts of transitioning from petrol-powered motorbikes to electric two-wheelers for transportation and employment in Rwanda and Kenya. The study concluded with a final report released in May 2022.
In August 2021, the City of Portland, Maine selected Tandem Mobility to plan, operate and launch a bike share system in collaboration with the City and local partners. SustainMobility worked closely with all stakeholders prior to the launch including: securing the needed bike share system sponsorships; identifying bike parking 'hubs' where bikes are checked out-checked in and locked; and developing the system's naming and branding. Portland Bikeshare launched on August 15, 2022 with a phased roll-out. During the first month, over 800 different users took approximately 2,200 rides.
From 2021-2023, David worked with Movatic, a software platform for micromobility, empowering entrepreneurs, small businesses, and real estate companies to launch and manage their own fleet of bikes, scooters, bike lockers, and more. He helped set up sales, marketing, and operational processes, and streamlined the order and fulfillment process to enable a self-service setup and launch of an e-commerce store.
